Lower Elementary Teacher
My first exposure to Montessori was in 1986, as I observed a child learning so much in just a few hours each day in her Montessori classroom. At this point, I made the decision to go in the direction of teaching, so I began my primary AMI training just two years later. I enjoyed working as an assistant for 3 years, then became a lead teacher. I continued this path, teaching at the primary level for 8 years. I loved the journey, especially having my oldest son Owen attend a primary Montessori classroom in Decatur. Following this time, I continued my training and received my AMS Lower Elementary certification from NCME, in Atlanta, in 2007 and worked in a Dekalb public Montessori classroom for 10 years.
My husband Randy and I live in Cumming, with our two sons we adopted from China, ages 9 and 8 ½. We have two retired show dogs, both Welsh Springer Spaniels. For many years, I enjoyed competing with our dogs in the areas of conformation, obedience, and rally. In my spare time, I enjoy reading science fiction, especially Star Trek or Star Wars.
