Our Story
Montessori Academy at Sharon Springs was founded with a clear purpose to nurture the whole child through authentic Montessori education while creating a peaceful, respectful, and positive learning environment. We want your child to feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn. We understand how important the early years are and how much you want something more than traditional childcare. You want a place where your child is known, encouraged, and guided through meaningful learning experiences that build a sense of capability and independence.
That is why we created a Montessori environment centered around hands-on learning, curiosity, independence, and meaningful relationships, where children are free to explore, discover, and grow at their own pace. Instead of relying on rigid instruction or one-size-fits-all learning, we focus on helping your child become a confident, capable, and joyful learner.
As a parent, you want to know your child is developing in the right way. According to the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, more than 1 million neural connections form every second during the first few years of life, making early childhood one of the most important periods for brain development. Research reinforces the NAEYC principle that nurturing and responsive early learning environments directly support healthy cognitive, emotional, and social development.
Our Montessori school community has grown since 2004, and our focus on what matters most to families has stayed the same: meaningful relationships, joyful learning, respect for the child, and fostering independence within a caring environment. We know this is not just about choosing a school. It is about your child's happiness, confidence, emotional well-being, and feeling genuinely supported every single day.
As Bhairavi Chandramouli, School Leader at Montessori Academy at Sharon Springs, shares, "Early education is the building block of future society. We take pride in being instrumental in setting the foundation right."
Our mission is to foster the development of the whole child through authentic Montessori philosophy while encouraging joyful learning, meaningful relationships, global awareness, independence, and peace. We focus on helping your little one feel secure, capable, respected, and confident in themselves and the world around them.
We want your child to feel like they belong from the moment they walk into our classrooms, feeling emotionally safe and genuinely supported. In turn, their belief in themselves grows, their curiosity expands, and their love of learning develops naturally.
Our Montessori curriculum is thoughtfully designed around your child's developmental needs and the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. Through hands-on Montessori materials, practical life experiences, mathematics exploration, language development, science, cultural studies, movement, creativity, and collaborative learning, your child will build academic, social, emotional, and problem-solving skills that support lifelong success. According to the Harvard Graduate School of Education, play and hands-on experiences help little ones strengthen creativity, executive functioning, social understanding, and independent thinking. Our uninterrupted Montessori work cycles allow your child to deeply engage with learning while building concentration, confidence, responsibility, and self-direction.
What Makes Our Montessori School Different?
Many parents come to us after feeling uncertain about other educational environments. We understand that you are looking for more than supervision or academics alone. You are looking for a place where your child will feel respected, encouraged, emotionally supported, and genuinely excited to learn.
One thing that sets our Montessori school apart for families is that your child never has to leave. From the moment they arrive as a toddler at 13 months, all the way through age 12, Montessori Academy at Sharon Springs grows with them. We offer dedicated programs at every stage, from Toddler and Primary through Lower and Upper Elementary, so each step forward feels natural rather than disruptive. As your child grows, these programs get richer, moving into the kind of deep, collaborative, research-based learning that genuinely prepares them for the world ahead.
Another key difference is in the experience your child has every single day. Our Montessori guides take the time to truly understand your child, including their personality, strengths, interests, and developmental needs. We focus on how your child feels just as much as what they learn because when they feel emotionally secure, respected, and supported, they naturally become more curious, self-assured, independent, and engaged in learning.
Our Montessori school also stands apart because of our strong sense of community. Students, families, and guides work together to create an environment where your child feels connected and valued. Bhairavi Chandramouli explains, "Shared leadership builds ownership and strengthens community. In our school community, staff, students, and parents bring their unique strengths to the environment."
We are deeply committed to supporting your child socially, emotionally, academically, and physically because we know these are the foundations of lifelong success.
